Miami 2006 : These are photos of the annual Theater C4S Support Center OSTR Conference, held this year at the Doral Golf Resort in Miami, Florida.

Be sure to check out the photography coverage of the conference by Mr. Dave Jenkins (http://drjtech.smugmug.com/gallery/1810696), who in the best traditions of photojournalism, was everywhere there was a photo opportunity.

I will add more to this gallery in the near future.

2006 Candlelight Vigil : Respect, Honor, Remember. These are the words that resonate throughout the National Law Enforcement Memorial that honors the law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The 2006 Candlelight Vigil held on Saturday, 13 May 2006 was a small tribute to these fallen officers and the newly enscribed names from the 2005-2006 year and towards the end of this gallery, you will see the candles lit and held high in tribute.

I was honored to help photograph and document the event as well as capture the haunting and resonating images of the sounds of the Washington D.C. Regional Police Pipe Band as they played from high above on the roof ledge of the FBI Washington Field Office building. The sounds of "Amazing Grace" emanating from the bagpipes stopped people in their tracks, bringing fresh tears in the eyes of many as they remembered...

Phoenix Hot Air Ballooning : The Hot Air Balloon adventure began when I had the opportunity to visit Theresa in Tucson in June of 2006 while I was in the area, attending a technology conference in Las Vegas. I had entertained visions of asking Theresa to join me in the wild blue yonder, knowing that she always up for an adventure.

Ginger the giraffe, T's constant companion on a multitude of adventures had also never been hot air ballooning and so was able to join us in the adventure. I have had the pleasure of Ginger's companionship before on canoeing and motorcycle rides in Virginia (but that's another story…).

We drove to Phoenix the night before our early Sunday morning balloon launch and enjoyed the ambiance of a wonderful seafood restaurant with a live band, cocktails and sunset over the desert and a great meal before getting some rest for the early morning.

At 0415 it was an early start for what promised to be a beautiful day. We met the balloon crews at the Deer Valley Airport and drove to a launch point north of the airport in the desert.

The balloon flight took us where the winds blew and we landed an hour after takeoff in the desert where the balloon chase crew had advanced to and setup a champagne breakfast with strawberries, chocolate and a toast to the balloonist's prayer.

Cornhole Tournament : OK - when my friend Craig asked if I wanted to play Cornhole, I admit my mind went straight into the gutter. I was trying to decide if I should take a swing at him or run, but he explained that it’s a game, similar in concept to horse shoes with two boxes with holes in them that you toss the bags of corn towards with the intent to make it into the holes.

The next thing that came to mind is that Craig, who lives in Nokesville (yeah…see what I mean) and a few of his friends had consumed just a little too much Wild Turkey liquor and made this up! He assured me that was not the case and had to prove it to me by showing me that there was actually an American Cornhole Association web site (no kidding…I swear I’m not drinking right now).

But when he explained that he wanted to hold a tournament as a fund raiser for his daughter’s high school basketball team…well, I was definitely in for that great cause.

2007 Pennsylvania Reneissance Festival : This was certainly one of the most entertaining and interesting renaissance festivals I have ever attended. I have been a yearly attendee at the Maryland Renaissance festival and 2007 was my first time attending the Pennsylvania fest. Although it has a more scripted performance than the Maryland version, less attending visitors come in costumes and outfits than in Maryland. Nevertheless, the event is wonderful and the characters are enticing…

2008 PWT Conhole Tournament : Ahh...here we are. The weather is turning warmer and my friend from Nokesville (yep...Nokesville) decided to hold a Cornhole Tournament to raise money and benefit the Prince William Tigers Girls AAU Basketball team. As you are about to see, the event was a success despite the rain that plagued the area up until the night before the event. Althought the day started overcast and cloudy, it turned into a great event where everyone had fun. The stylish t-shirts of several of the participants do double duty to firmly anchor the hotbed of Conhole activities in Virginia to Nokesville (see the front of the t-shirt) while also pointing out the obvious incorrect conclusion that many people jump to when they hear of a "Cornhole" event (read the back of the t-shirt)!

GIT Rockin : GIT Rockin’ was the 3rd Annual Battle of the Government IT Bands held on 16 October 2008 at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia. The event was a United Services Organization of Metropolitan Washington (USO- Metro) fund raiser with all proceeds from attendee and ticket sales donated to the USO. Five bands consisting of IT government personnel and friends battled for the most attendee votes to claim the title of Government IT Band winner.
